The $230 million project was jointly funded by the Australian and NSW governments as part of the Pacific Highway upgrade program. Works involved upgrading the highway between Barrys Creek in Kundabung and the South Kempsey Interchange, delivering a new interchange at Kundabung Road, new intersections for local access roads, bus stops and rest areas at Barrys Creek. The upgrade created safer, faster access for local communities and removed a dangerous section of two-lane highway on the NSW mid-north coast. The project opened to traffic during September and October 2017.

Evenrange's concrete curing compounds were applied across pavement slabs, bridge decks and structural concrete pours throughout the project. Proper curing is critical on highway pavement of this type, where early-age shrinkage cracking and inadequate hydration can compromise long-term surface performance and pavement life. Evenrange products comply with AS 3799 and are formulated for the demanding conditions typical of large-scale road construction in NSW.

Highway duplication projects present specific curing challenges, with large continuous pavement pours requiring consistent membrane coverage across wide, exposed surfaces. Evenrange's concrete curing compounds are designed for efficient application by spray, maintaining uniform coverage even in the wind and sun exposure common on open road construction sites. Our technical team provides application guidance to contractors to ensure correct dilution, coverage rates and recoat timing. Further details on the NSW Government's Pacific Highway upgrade program are available on the NSW Government website.
